8:13 pm	Hossies? ^_^ Well, when I was studying in Twente I joined a horseback riding club and much loved it, but when I came back to Amsterdam I first had to focus on getting a job, and then working, and then and then ^_^ So been a few years since :) Wrote a few mails to the 3-4 most local horseriding schools/places/whatever you call 'm the other day, and already got 3 replies, so guess I should now see about doing an introduction lesson with one or two of 'm and sign up again for lessons ^_^ Kinda scaredy tho, I'll be shouted at again by the instructor and stuff :D Guess if I post here it's harder to silently let another few years pass ^__^ *gigglesqueeks*, *wave* :) Current Mood: contemplative (2 Comments |Comment on this)

7:59 am	Day 2 ^_^ Well, luckily everythign else has gone quite well :) Slipstreamed XP SP3/raid worked fine ^_^ Driver installs went well too, except for the Creative ones, -as usual- . Stuck supreme commander on it, and it runs very happily :D Played it for a hour or so, everything seems plenty stable ^.^ So the only significant thing left is deciding on what to do with the cpu cooler :) And then slowly migrating most stuff to the new pc ^.^ *bounce* :) Current Mood: bouncy (10 Comments |Comment on this)

7:29 am	Day 1 Right, expensive brand components, lots of experience, so putting together a pc should be click-click-click right ? :) Spent pretty much all of yesterday on building, and that's just hardware :D It does now boot (on first try), and I turned it off at the first reboot during windows XP install :) This was a -hard- build :) Some main issues: - By far the worst, the stock Intel cooler. It took massive amounts of effort to get the 4 pins to engage (my poor fins!), and now the mainboard is slightly warped around the cpu o.O I've read up on this, and the consensus seems to be that it is 'supposed' to do that, and that the mainboard is strong enough to take it. I think it's awfull design :) I'm considering looking for a 3d party fan though, as it freaks my out having a bent mainboard. Any suggestions? :) (I prefer one that will fit without removing the gigabyte 'crazycool' from the back of the cpu/mb, meaning using only the 4 standard holes, and preferably one that doesn't do the same stupid thing as the intel one :D ) - Sound card back plate stays a milimeter away from the back of the pc, not sure if it's cause of the card, maiboard or case, but it means you can't really lock it into place properly at the back. - The memory cooler that came with the memory won't fit if the video card is installed in the 1st 16x slot (which is where I want it), so I'll just leave it out. It said it's optional :) (And there's a side fan blowing straight on the MB anyways). Also the cooler uses 4 screws to attach it's side prongs, and one screw hole just isn't bored right, so you can't get the screw in (force only strips the screw). - The PSU rests on four rubber feet (that are part of the pc case), which is a great idea. But on the edge at the back there's a pop rivet which sticks out more then those feet, so now the psu is resting on that :p - Case had this row of plastic clip/prong like things to keep cables organized, but they're useless and in the way since they're right next to the mainboard. Still, I managed to squish everything in, and it's booting ^_^ And today I'll see if XP 'll install from my slipstreamed SP3 + raid drivers cd :D *wavewave* ^_^ P.S. Hmm, looking at coolers some more, something like Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme looks like a dream to install compared to the intel one, such good design (get's a bit teary eyed), but it means dumping the crazy cool plate (just a 'cooling' plate at the back of the cpu/MB). Specs help :) Hi! ^_^ Again, should've been updating, but ahwell :) Got question for the techies out there ^.^ I'm very seriously looking at building a new pc, high end game wise, max. budget around 1k euro. To keep my dwaggin happy (and in extension myself, cause he knows what's best for me ^_^) I've promised to research the components very well :) This is the third version of the post, I think I'm very near my final setup now :) PARTS: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 Corsair Dominator TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF (4GB DDR2-1066). XFX PV-T98F-YDB4/YDD9/YDE9 (9800GTX) (B= black, D= XXX, E= XT) Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS, 640GB (2x, raid0) ThermalTake ToughPower Modular 750W W0116 NOTES: - No OC'ing, it makes my dwaggin uncomfortable, and I'm fine without it, the parts are fast enough :) - So stock speeds, this means a 3:4 memory divider to match the 333FSB to the 533 memory clock. (333 = 1333/4, 533 = 1066/2). - Alternate for memory would be TWIN2X4096-6400C4DHX (4GB DDR2-800), if the dominator isn't available in the shop :) - I think corsair should be a good brand, not sure about best brand tho. Shop is either gonna be Azerty, Alternate, or SallandAutomatisering I think :) Some problems with availabilit of the quad core, memory, mayby the video card, possibly the hd, but I expect that won't last long :) Cheers! ^_^ SQueekers, Phin. :) P.s. updated -again-, decided for the X48-DQ6, it's a identical PCB to the EX38, and the DQ6 adds better cooling elements, for only 30 euro's extra. 7:44 am	Squeekend ^_^ Another nice weekend ^_^ Visited ponies again for a change, yay fluffy ears ^.^ Bit of excitement going there tho, on the way there someone 2-3 cars in front of me suddenly lost his left front wheel o.O Wheel went to the left side, and car to the right side tho, so everyone got very lucky, only had to break firmly for the car in front of me, passed the wheel while it still was rolling along :) Seem to have picked up a bit of a taste for cream (bailey's, the white part of sherridans, some white chocolate one I found this weekend ^_^) liquors, finally a flavor of acohol that I find really yummy ^__^ Weekend was nice overall, Snoopy was there too, mostly just lazed, watched movies, the usual ^_^ Keep the dog there entertained with a laserpointer :D Very windy outside tho, whoooshwhoooshwhoosh all the time :) Had to go fix a electric fence in it tho, cause one of the ponies decided to make an escape on friday :) All sorted out now, good as new ^_^ Oky, workworkwork again, *wavewave* :) (5 Comments |Comment on this)

2:46 pm	Wheee Brum ^_^ If you look a year back in my LJ history you'll find my upsetness at last years APK/MOT/(Dutch goverment yearly car check) + major service, which was highly frustrating, took 3 days (including a whole weekend, and most notably 1200 euro's. Had to take it in again today for APK + minor checkup, and been stressing out lots over it, (and somehow I didn't realize I needed minor instead of major, thought major was some yearly thing or so, so initially requested the wrong one). Well, it took only part of a day, they brought me back, and later picked me up to and from work with a van, and it cost only the mandatory 99 euro + 1.95 for refilling the wishywashy, no repairs or anything needed, at all ^__^ 100.95 total, which is -great- :) *Bounces around lots*, Wheeeeee ^_^ (16 Comments |Comment on this)

7:07 am	More late updates ^_^ Eoo :) Hmm, think it's been two squeekends since last update again :D *tries to remember first of two*, staying home, getting some sleep back, reading harry potter, messing with 'puters, I guess :) Mayby cleaning up and such a bit too, hmm, can't remember ^__^ Last weekend at HyperX/BP's, -again- :) Enjoyed the nice weather (which sadly has dissapeared again) while drivin around a bit, lots of dane cuddles ofcourse, played a game of risk and some silly trivia game which is all about 'how to survive' in the wild and so question cards, watched the third of the original updated starwars movies which I hadn't seen in any shape for years (and don't really need to see them anymore in quite a while now ^_^). And besides that workies workies workies :) Kinda busy with that too :) And tinkering with pc and reading harry potter at home ^-^ Playing OpenTTD still :) Not much else really, mayby 'll hav emore interesting things again when the weather looks up ^_^ Car in for APK (MOT), and big service the 19'th, so wish me luck with that, lasttime was expensive :) *Ponders coming weekend*, should do something interesting I guess, still need to read more HP tho, and lazing is kinda nice ^__^ (7 Comments |Comment on this)

9:41 pm	Late weekend update :) And Sqweek ^.^ *giggle*, well late cause it's already next weekend :) Last weekend was fun, played lots of OTTD, Wouter was there all the time, Danes were entertaining as usual, and the last day Remco and later also Justacat visited ^_^ Also saw the first two Starwars movies, hadn't seen them in ages, and hadn't seen the new versions yet at all :) Week been workies, and actually spent a lot of time home doing paperwork, cleaning room/house, moving old stuff to dad/family etc. :) And doing pretty much the same this weekend ^_^ Also well into third harry potter book now ^.^ Mmm, not much else to squeek really :) For anyone interested in what we got up to on OTTD: Big! 3MB, Clicky :) Current Mood: accomplished (6 Comments |Comment on this)

7:22 am	Squeekers ^.^ Ok, firstly, as a spinoff of the who posts most list, let's see who's still reading this thing anyways :) If you're reading this now, hit reply, type -anything- ^.^ (Yes, even "Anything" for those who it makes happy ^.^). If you're not a registered livejournal user, pretty please add something recognizable to me ^.^ I dropped out of this LJ thing for a few months, so wonder how much are still left :D Well, friday again, gosh time flies ^_^ Received my 6 book box set of (english ofcourse) Harry Potters :) Nearly finished the first book already yesterday :D (Read it before on my PDA, but doing at again just to get into the go of the whole set :) ). WOndering if I should read the book(s) which have no movie yet. I think I'll enjoy things more first watching the movie, then reading the book :) Instead of 'they left out half the book!' I'll be getting additional details while reading the book, which I think is a much more pleasant experience ^.^ And I like the movies a lot :) Week mostly spend on lil bits of cleaning (helping mum buy taking several pieces of old electronics to the 'tip' :) ). And messing around with my server, installed Suse 10.3 on it ^_^ (Used to have 10.0 :) ). And moved it to someplace well out of the way of everyone (lil side room we use for tools and stuff, next to my bedroom :) ). I've put it on wireless cause we have no UTP going there, but I think I'll have to drill a hole in the wall and put cable there, cause we use it as file/download server too, and xGbyte files take too long on wireless (G) :) PLans for weekend already made, over at BP/Hypers again with Wouter, taking my PC again since Hyper is out of his cast ^_^ Might do some OpenTTD :) (*giggle*, so Remco is missing out ;) ). Hmm, starting to see a pattern in weekend spendage here :D Can't help it. I enjoy their company, and between Danes, Geek gear, Board games, Sleeping space, and nummy foods, there's not much else I could ask for on a sqeekend ^_^ And I need to retrieve my toothbrush before accidents happen :D Hmm, think that's about it again ^.^ You'd think there'd be more to tell :) Server messing eats time tho ^.^ Did order a low profile Nvidia card for it since it's set up usable as desktop too now :) (There's not a whole lot of low profile AGP Nvidia cards, sadly, can you guess which model I got ? :) ). 7:22 am	Chirrup :) Usual work yesterday, and then drove to my actual companies office for an introduction on a tool they have a big relation with :) Sadly it's a 2 hour drive down, and one hour drive back (traffic jams when you go there), so all in all That's all I did that day ^.^ Annoyance btw: Think let's pick up a cola and a mini burger at McDonalds underway, find it's closed for renovation. So you think well, lets see if tehre's another in range on TomTom, drive down there.. Closed too! You'd think they'd first do the one, then the other. 7:25 am	Squeeker ^.^ *giggle* :) Well, two weeks further again ^_^ Roughly what I've been up to: - workworkwork - Weekend at BP and hypers where wouter was visiting too, played a lot of risk, drove hyper down to get his one mainboard (that ruels them all), decided LOTR risk was pants (See his post :) ), much Dane loving, ofcourse, ohyeah, and beers and cosmopolitans ^__^ - workworkwork, mixed with messing around with my server, decided it needed a reinstall of a new linux (suse 10.3), and moved it to a place in the house where it'd be less bothersome (noise), and would have a bit more space for keeping cool, and swapped harddrive cause it seemed unhappy when I was trying to do the reinstall, and had to make it Wifi cause I can't lay a cable to the room it's in now :)  All took a bit longer then expected :D - Shopping and stuff last saterday cause my bro was having his bday on sunday, also some badly needed house cleaning (not my fault, my bro/mum like to gather too much stuff :) ). - Bro's bday sunday, was nice, took up the whole day tho ^_^ - Back to work :) Might've missed some things, think there was a company newyears meeting/drinks something too in there :) And it's cold and wet outside still, I don't like it ^__^ Update done, *wavewavewave* ^_^ Current Music: Arrow Classic Rock :) (4 Comments |Comment on this)
